Since 1994, Rising Sun Energy Center has evolved from a modest renewable energy education center into a leading green workforce development and retrofit services organization.
Rising Sun Energy Center’s mission is to create a society that uses energy and water responsibly and equitably. We do this by:
- Providing green workforce development training & employment that creates green career pathways for youth and adults
- Offering low-to-no cost residential retrofits & services that lower energy & water usage
- Educating our communities about sustainable behaviors and technologies
Headquartered in Berkeley, California, Rising Sun has become a national leader in curriculum, training and workforce development in the energy efficiency sector. The organization has served communities around Northern California for over ten years with energy and water efficiency programs. We continue to cooperate with long-term partners in local and state governments, as well as in corporate and other non-profit organizations to grow and expand the programs and services that we can bring to our local communities and the nation.

Top employees in Rising Sun's CYES program are given peer leadership roles and taught business and leadership skills. MORE
A year-long part time volunteer service program for youth who have worked as CYES Energy Specialists. MORE
Green job skills training and wraparound services for young adults with barriers to employment. MORE
As our GETS trainees graduate, some move on to work for our GETS Energy Service program. They garner hands-on experience providing energy upgrades to local homes - and the homeowner gets a healthier, more efficient home at a deep discount. MORE
Over the past nine years Rising Sun has trained more than 650 youth and adults and provided more than 13,000 homes with energy and water saving measures, carbon footprint reduction strategies, and advice on further energy savings.
