Rising Sun Energy Center is a BPI training affiliate and a non-profit leader in energy efficiency and workforce development. Our Green Energy Training Services (GETS) curriculum was developed by a BPI-Certified Building Analyst, in collaboration with employers, industry experts, and curriculum design professionals, to prepare adults for entry into careers in energy efficiency and the Building Performance industry.
The GETS Curriculum
The GETS curriculum has been reviewed and approved by the Building Performance Institute for the following professional certifications:
- Building Analyst
- Envelope Professional
- Residential Building Envelope Whole House Air Leakage Control Installer (RBE-WH-ALC)

GETS graduates are prepared for a growing range of jobs, such as energy efficiency field technician, weatherization crew member, or Building Analyst assistant.

Why GETS?
Developed with significant input from industry and trade professionals.
To align the curriculum with industry needs and ensure that graduates learn the skills employers are looking for, Rising Sun created the GETS Employer Council to guide curriculum development. The GETS Employer Council is comprised of home performance professionals, general contractors, trade association members, non-profit partners, government representatives (city, county, state and federal), and others. Rising Sun also created GETS Energy Services, our own Building Performance social enterprise. GETS Energy Services provides transitional employment to GETS graduates, and offers real-time feedback on curriculum and training implementation.
Suitable for a wide range of participants in multiple types of settings.
The GETS curriculum is well-suited for municipal and government workforce development organizations, community-based job training programs, vocational and technical training schools, and community colleges.
The GETS curriculum includes modules to teach the soft skills necessary for entry-level employment, making it suitable for students not typically served by other training providers, i.e. young adults (18-24 years old), adults with barriers to employment, and English language learners. These modules may be eliminated for more advanced students.
