Rising Sun Energy Center is a BPI training affiliate that prepares Bay Area adults for careers in energy efficiency, providing them with valuable skills for the construction and Building Performance industries.
Green Energy Training Services (GETS) provides both theoretical and hands-on technical training for entry-level jobs in energy efficiency and Building Performance. The GETS curriculum was developed with active participation from employers, to ensure that GETS participants develop the skills that employers are looking for.

Graduates of the GETS program can:

• Use and understand energy-related words and concepts
• Identify opportunities to improve building energy efficiency
• Use energy efficiency assessment tools
• Assist in weatherizing homes and small buildings
• Conduct a walk-through home performance assessment
• Complete an assessment report
• Install energy efficiency measures and make minor repairs to improve energy use
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers

Graduates of the GETS program are prepared to enter the following green jobs:

• Entry-level Air Sealer and Insulation Installer
• Entry-level HVAC repair and installer
• Entry-level Energy Auditor
• Entry-level Construction worker
• Weatherization Specialist

To ensure that standards are being met in the ever-changing energy efficiency sector, Rising Sun created a GETS Employer Council, made up of representatives from home performance businesses, general contractors, trade associations, partner organizations, government representatives (city, county, state and federal), and others.  The GETS Employer Council empowers employers to shape the GETS curriculum, to network, and to learn from each other about industry trends. Feedback from employers ensures that GETS graduates have the necessary skills to meet the professional standards of today's industry.
