Solar Education Workshops
 In
2006 Rising Sun Energy Center hosted a series of workshops on
Solar Energy and Energy Efficiency. Each self-contained workshop
focused on either Solar Electricity or Solar Thermal, providing
educators with the skills and tools necessary to lead renewable
energy projects for students grades 4 -12. Teachers received
a $150 stipend, materials, curriculum, and follow-up support
to teach these important topics. For more information about

Renewable Energy Internship Program
 In
the Renewable Energy Internship Program, high school students
apply knowledge of sustainable energy systems in community service
internships.
REI interns provide community services on three
levels: students serve as SEEP classroom assistants for elementary
and middle school students; students design and implement solar
pond projects in community spaces; and students serve as community
educators and provide home energy retrofits.
To fully integrate their experiences, students
conclude their internship by giving an oral presentation on
an energy topic to their peers.
Solar Installation & Whole House Performance
 The
Solar Energy Program provides young people with an opportunity
to work with professional installers and gain hands-on experience
in installing a solar electric system.
Young people discover for themselves the exciting
work possibilities in the solar field. Participating home
owners receive a professional installation at a reduced cost.
And just as important, home owners receive a
start-to-finish service, from permitting to rebate applications,
that makes the installation process seamless. The Solar
Energy Program provides a win-win-win opportunity to home owners
who are interested in beating energy price inflation, becoming
part of the energy solution, and supporting the growth of “green
jobs”.
Subsidized Attic Insulation
Through
the East Bay Energy Watch program, RSEC can offer professional
installation of attic insulation at a fraction of the normal
cost.
RSEC
has partnered with
Advanced Home Energy, Inc.
a local energy contractor who provides the service. They
provide a free home assessment to determine whether our service
is available and appropriate for your home.
Installing
modern cellulose insulation can make a tremendous improvement
in the overall comfort of your home, as well as greatly reduce
your utility bills. Best of all, it is cost-effective to install
because it can be easily blown right over your old, under-performing
insulation.
